Quarterhorse - Large - Senior - Female - Horse - Faith-SAD

October 19, 2006 - Faith was humanely euthanized today as her body was failing her. She was buried on the rescue farm. "...And the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith." II Timothy 4:6,7. Little did we know how appropriate her new name would be. UPDATE October 6, 2006. We asked the vet to run bloodwork as we were not seeing the progress with Faith we expected. Sadly, Faith's kidneys are failing and at this point her frail body just can't fight any longer. "And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary" Galatians 6:9. RESCUED SEPTEMBER 14, 2006! Meet Faith (formerly known as LuLu) Faith recently came into the care of Almost Home as she was involved in a cruelty case. Faith's owner agreed to surrender her to our care after he was charged with Animal Cruelty by the local animal control. Seems her owner was just unwilling/unable to provide adequate care. Faith was formerly a world-class polo pony. She was purchased in retirement by her most recent owner, who put her out in his backyard in a subdivision. She quickly began to lose weight, and also suffered from some sort of serious eye condition. Our vets quickly diagnosed "cancer eye" (squamous cell carcinoma) and her affected eye was removed the day after she came into our care in order to prevent the cancer from spreading to the surrounding tissue. She is now recovering nicely from her surgery, and we expect her to start putting on weight as she is quite pleased with her new feeding regimen. Faith is not ready to go to a new adoptive home. She has a negative coggins, and has been dewormed and given a tetanus shot. The rest of her vaccinations will be administered in a few weeks when her body is in better condition. Look for updated pictures as she progresses! Faith will ultimately be adopted as a PASTURE MATE only.
