Bearded Collie - Large - Adult - Female - Dog - Mable Lou

Mable rescued from being put to sleep 5 yrs ago from a high kill Animal Control facility. She lived in a bad neighborhood, was often taunted and teased by local children, they threw rocks at her and hit her with sticks. Her former owner neglected her, she was often left alone for days on end. When her owner went away, she went to a temporary home, were an extremely aggressive dog would often steal Mable's food and attack her. Mable resorted to just sitting in her cage, happy to not have to fend for her food. I was SHOCKED at her condition when she arrived, none of her injuries had been treated. She had nasty bite marks all around her face and ears that were infected. She was starved for attention. I worked with her for 6 months, she now has two large black labs that she plays with and is great with eating in the same room with them. I do monitor their eating to make sure that no one tries to take her food. She is now the MOST AWESOME dog. She loves to fetch tennis balls, and ride in the car, if a car door is open, she will jump in. There are days when I am cleaning the car, and she will jump in and sit in the back seat for hours while I wash and clean the car. The funniest thing in the world is to see her hanging her head out the window while driving. Her favorite place to sleep is in the bed, but if you tell her to get down she will. She tolerates her playmates, but prefers to be by herself. She harbors a grudge towards small dogs, and she has never gotten over her fear of children. But she is very warm and friendly to all visitors and runs to the gate begging for a pat on the head when ever anyone comes to visit. When she goes to the groomer, she is the most obedient good girl, I rather think she enjoys it, she loves to play beauty parlor. She would like to be in a home where she is the only pet, so that she can be spoiled rotten and experience all the wonderful delights of unconditional love that she has been denied for so long. Be careful leaving any car doors open, Mable LOVES go for rides, she will sit in the car all day if you let her and just wait for you to start the engine.
