He does not see very well at all but has learned his way around the house and recognizes my silouette and follows me around a lot. He gets around quite well in spite of his handicap. He relies on his sense of touch and smell so much.  When I picked him up for the first time, he pressed his little muzzle into my cheek and we were bonded from that moment.  He loves to be held and snuggled.  He does have some fear, probably from his past experiences.  Jackson has been doing great on his potty training.  He does great  when taken out on a schedule but occasionally will have an accident in the house.   He has started going to the door and I was told he knows how to use a use a doggy door as well.   He will stay in an open crate but I usually put one of the others dogs in with him for company.  He likes to snuggle up with his friend when in the crate.    He has bonded with the other dogs at my house even though they are all male and would probably do best in house with a least one other dog if the dog is not dominating.  He really is a very special “little man”and needs the love of a committed family.  He would do best in a  quiet home with no young children.     Jackson walks well on a leash and has made trips to the park with no problem. He does rely on his sense of smell strongly and has the hunter instinct for sure.  He can move fast when he picks up an interesting scent so he will need to be on a leash when not in a fenced area. With his vision handicap he does not always recognize dangerous situations so his  parents will have to be diligent and keep him out of trouble. He does not hear well and it takes some time for him to learn signals on what he needs to do but loves to be petted and praised and has made good progress.  If you are looking for a precious cuddle bug, Jackson is the boy for you!  Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
